THE STEAMER EURYALUS CASE |
THE STEAMER EURYALUS CASE CAPTAIN McDONALD ACQUITTED Sydney. April 28 Colin McDonald, captain of the steamer Euryalus, was charged on Saturday with giving false answers to the question whether any case of sickness had occurred aboard the vessel during the voyage to this port. It will be remembered that the vessel arrived with a case of smallpox, but the captain did not report it as such. Dr Gething, of Adelaide said that Captain McDonald pointed out Clark to him. He (Dr. Gething) did not think the man had the smallpox. The case was dismissed, the jury holding that no blame was attachable to the captain. |
